Not a bad day at the office. Derek Jeter is certain to be elected to the Hall of Fame the first time he is eligible, five years after he retires.

Jeter served as Captain of the New York Yankees for eleven years, using innate traits like his intelligence and self-confidence mixed with technical, human and conceptual skills developed over time to grow as a respected and trusted leader. His parents encouraged achievement and excellence but were always supportive and allowed time for fun- provided Derek was done with all of his homework.
His parents instilled in him strong morals and values, even having him sign annual contracts in high school where he would pledge to maintain certain standards of respectful behavior. That integrity is reflected in how Jeter handled himself in professional baseball. He never came across as arrogant, or over confident. He never appeared uncertain or unsure of himself. And he never made it about himself, even if others tried to make it about him. His body of work represents true Diamond Leadership in every way.
His final-final game is scheduled for this Sunday against the Red Sox, in Boston. On the field, Jeter hustles and gets results. Since baseball is a game of stats, here are a few of Jeter's to chew on:. If I ever was on the fence about respecting Jeter, my doubts were erased after watching this ridiculous play in a game against my Red Sox.
Jeter blew past then third baseman Alex Rodriguez to make a face-first dive into the stands to nab a foul ball. Or any type of scandal for that matter? Go on. Can't think of one? That's because Jeter is one classy, upstanding dude. Sure, his personal life has made the New York City gossip columns from time-to-time.
He's had romantic relationships with high-profile celebrities like Mariah Carey remember that?! Otherwise, no fights, no steroids, no legal troubles. For Jeter, it's all about baseball and the Yankees. All the time. No distractions.
He also gives back off the field.
