After all, if the book is going to be re-shipped via USPS mail, the postage is not affected by where in the USA the book is shipped from. Maybe such a service company could pick up the books at the printer and save the UPS shipping portion of the charges.
This is all just my speculation, of course, and I don't know if Blurb would go for it. In other over-the-horizon news, Blurb plans to gradually add printing partners outside of the USA, which obviously will happen first in places with the greatest demand. Maybe you Brits and Aussies will get lucky. Once Blurb has a partner near you the shipping costs will go down a lot.
