Mondo Guerra stopped by the Decider office to talk about his first foray into hosting, what separates Runway Remake from its parent season, and even shared his take of the revamped Project Runway.
Decider: You obviously love Project Runway. Mondo Guerra: Up until now, I know. I was in Season 8, where I lost to Gretchen. People still email me and talk to me about that. You have those Facebook memories and you look back and realize that that was in , almost ten years ago. But people are still talking about it, which is interesting. She was just very confident in what she wanted to achieve and she executed it and a lot of people really came after her.
But now I feel like if that aired and they saw her being such a boss, I think she would actually be praised for it. A little bit of pressure was off, but also because I was taking care of four designers that were in the same position I was at some point.
That was the only pressure that I felt. I really wanted to see them succeed. But they did really well! I love it because now I watch Project Runway as a fan. Sam Gutierrez. On "Project Runway," fashion designers compete against each other for a grand prize. Past winners, like Christian Siriano and Leanne Marshall, went on to create successful brands. Other winners, like Gretchen Jones, have expanded their careers beyond designing.
Jay McCarroll won season one. McCarroll has remained in the spotlight across a variety of platforms. Chloe Dao won season two. Dao is now a philanthropist who runs a clothing boutique. Jeffrey Sebelia won season three. Sebelia has tried his hand at designing children's clothing. Christian Siriano won season four. Now, Siriano dresses the stars. Leanne Marshall won season five.
